Hossein Eslambolchi, Chairman & CEO, 2020 Venture Partners

Dr. Hossein Eslambolchi is Chairman and CEO of 2020 Venture Partners (http://www.2020vp.com), providing technology and operations consulting to private equity firms, service providers, enterprise customers, venture capitalists and start-ups as well as publicly traded companies in the areas of telecommunications technology, operations, business transformation and content distribution including wireless and all IP communications.

Dr. Eslambolchi is recognized worldwide in the scientific community as one of the foremost thought leaders and technological scientists of both the high-tech age and 21st century, often compared by industry experts to leaders such as Jack Welch of GE for his leadership in business transformation in global communications and Thomas Edison for his prolific scientific contribution in the field of IP. Dr. Eslambolchi is well-known in the scientific community for his expertise in IP network design and reliability, security, IP technologies, services, IP applications and setting an industry vision for “the “Concept of One” (do it once, do it right, use it everywhere) and the “Concept of Zero” (zero defects, zero cycle time and automate where possible), which have been used to streamline production, as well as the “Concept of None,” where networks will be moved to become autonomic and in turn self healing, self-provisioning and self-restorable via fully automated network and operational support systems. Dr. Eslambolchi also developed a very unique model of Complexity for Telecom which states that over time, complexity due to the number of protocols along with interconnection of these protocols, multiplied by the number of services will increase to a point that scale becomes a very difficult factor to manage in terms cost, capability and cycle time. He has been advocating models to lower this complexity to only a Factor of One. This is now known in the industry as the "Eslambolchi Law of Complexity."

Dr. Eslambolchi is also known for his technical work on IP technologies and has a number of innovations in various fields supporting communications and worldwide IP infrastructure, technologies and applications. These accolades have earned him the respect and admiration of fellow scientists worldwide and have gained him visibility amongst influential marketplace pundits who acknowledge his ability to influence how private and public sector leaders must think if they expect to compete in a global economy.

Chris Metz, Principal Engineer, Service Provider, CTO and Architecture Group, Cisco Systems

Chris Metz is a Principal Engineer in the SP CTO and Architecture group for Cisco Systems based in San Jose, California. His current areas of interest include Internet architectures, IP/MPLS, IPv6 transition, SDN, analytics and emerging network-based services. He has spoken at industry conferences worldwide on topics involving IP protocols and architectures. He is actively involved in various standards bodies including the IETF where his recent efforts have been devoted to Softwires, BEHAVE and v6ops. Chris helped architect and deliver a solution for SP-class CGN and IPv6 Transition features on the CRS-1 router. Currently he is exploring solutions for dynamically programming analytics collection and transport on SP routers.

Chris is the co-author of “ATM and Multiprotocol Networking,” McGraw-Hill, 1997 and the author of “IP Switching: Protocols and Architectures,” McGraw-Hill, 1999.  Chris is a member of ACM/Sigcomm, IEEE and formerly served as a contributing editor to IEEE Internet Computing on Internet-related technology. Chris also served as the Internet area editor for IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials. Prior to joining Cisco in 1998, Chris spent 14 years with IBM Corp. 


David Geltner, Vice President, nPhase

David Geltner is vice president of nPhase. Geltner is responsible for the development of nPhase’s global Services Delivery Platform that enables machine-to-machine (M2M) wireless communications, device management and applications across wide verticals. Geltner has spent years developing solutions to solve the inherent challenges of wired and wireless networking. Involved in Software Engineering for over 20 years with stops at SKK, Computer Associates, Talarian, and TIBCO software, Geltner has worked on many types of software including asset monitoring, middleware/messaging, security, and so on.

Geltner was vice president of engineering for the original nPhase prior to its acquisition by Qualcomm in 2006, and was responsible for the creation of nPhaseDSN™ (Dynamic Secure Network)—the commercial data network solution offered today. David has written several articles demystifying the building blocks of a successful Smart Services solution.

While at Computer Associates Geltner was involved in the early development of Unicenter and the manager of the Unicenter for Netware team. Other projects included Unicenter Unix Kernel development team, Unicenter High Availability, Linux skunk works team, and an original member of the CA-Examine development team.

Geltner has a B.S. in Computer Science from Northern Illinois University.
